Cocktail party, wine tasting and guided tour at the Museum of Samos Wine

Samos is famous for its fine wines which is exported all over the world.  

In Samos, the United Winemaking Agricultural Cooperative of Samos (UWC)is one of the oldest cooperatives in Greece and owns one of the biggest wineries nationally. Nowadays, around 2.200 producers participate in the Cooperative.

The Cooperative was founded in 1934 after actions by the vine growers of the island. History shows that the alliance of the vine growers was fundamental for the preservation of viticulture and the protection of the producers’ income. To know more about UMC please click here.

The Museum of Samos Wine of UWC is housed in an outstanding 19th-century stone building that was originally used as a private winery and later as a warehouse and barrel-making facility.

Turned into a Museum in 2005, it displays among others old photographs and production records, illustrations of the cultivation of the vineyards in dry-stone terraces, exposition of harvesting and manual presses, collectible bottles, barrel-making tools, old winemaking machinery. The exhibits tell the social, economic, and cultural history of the Samian wine.

The Museum will host the welcoming cocktail party of IDRiM2025 Conference in the afternoon of Sunday, September 28, 2025. During the party, participants will also have the opportunity for wine tasting and wine purchases.

Free guided tours at the Archeological Museum of Samos

The Archaeological Museum of Samos is housed in a two-story neoclassical building, built in 1912, and a new building that was constructed in 1984. The Museum hosts finds from the Heraion of Samos, including pots and offerings made of bronze, ivory, wood, etc., as well as the museum’s sculpture collection with significant sculptures from the Archaic period.

During the Conference, the Museum will offer free guided tours to the participants during lunch breaks.
